Elephant Hills Jungle Camp – Thailand

Elephant Hills jungle camp is a place like no other. Located approximately three hours away from Phuket in the middle of the jungle in Khao Sok, it is an oasis of calm, relaxation and adventure all rolled into one!

When you book your stay at Elephant Hills they sort everything out for you so when you arrive you know what activates you have planned and what your stay is going to consist of.

After a refreshing welcome drink and being introduced to Kong, who was our guide during our stay, we were given the key to our tent.

All the tents are spread out to ensure privacy and while in ours not once did we hear anyone else, only the sounds of nature.

I’ve stayed in luxury tented accommodation before on safari and whilst the accommodation at Elephant Hills is not quite as luxurious, we loved it and really couldn’t fault anything.

It had a comfy double bed, vanity table and mirror, table and chairs, an open wardrobe and tea and coffee facilities. There was also lots of bottled water supplied and that all important mosquito spray!

Our favourite part of the tent was actually the bathroom which was designed to make you feel like you were outside.

After two full days of activities there was nothing better than having an hour by the pool to cool off, admire the incredible views and in our case talk about the magical day we’d just had!

It was quite surreal relaxing in this beautiful pool and being surrounded by the jungle.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all provided during your stay, all buffet style, and while I am not a huge fan of buffets, I really couldn’t fault the food. Breakfasts had a choice of eggs cooked to order, my favourite being the omelettes! What I also couldn’t resist every morning was the delicious dim sum. Lunch and dinner, of course, consisted of fantastic Thai curries and noodle dishes, but they did also have western options.

The only extras which weren’t included at Elephant hills were the drinks but they were very reasonably priced and to say we were in the middle of the jungle they served the best wine I had during my travels in Thailand!

In the evening there was a Thai cooking demonstration and we all got to try the food afterwards . . . delicious! And there was a traditional Thai dancing performance by a local school which was really lovely.

Elephant Hills does a lot to support the local area, specifically the ‘Children’s Project’ which supports local children and rural schools. It also supports the ‘Wildlife Monitoring Project’ which works with the Wildlife Research Center, National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary authorities to monitor and report on the wildlife. And lastly the ‘Elephant conservation Project’, which has been used to build salt licks for the elephants and helping government-run elephant hospitals.

Look out for my next post where I will be telling you about all the activities included during our stay . . .

Laura Dim Sum for breakfast – yes I want to go there! This sounds like a great place. I like how they have built it to be as close to nature as possible. Looking forward to the next one.

Wow… Surreal indeed! Good thing that you guide Kong wasn’t King Kong! He could have popped out there behind the palm-trees/ jungle in the pool… 😀
Wish I could try this one day
