Spitalfields is fun, trendy and full of character! The hotel we stayed in to enjoy our time exploring Spitalfields had all that too. From its funky reception, welcome drinks on arrival, free in-room minibar, a selection of great in-house restaurants and complimentary drinks hour, it had everything we needed to enjoy our stay and more!
To top it off, it’s a stone’s throw from Liverpool Street Station, I don’t joke, less than one-minute’s walk to be exact! We arrived straight from our train journey from Nottingham to St Pancras and after hopping on the Tube we only had to travel four stops. Making our way into the hotel we had a warm welcome and arriving at 11am we easily left our cases in the care of the hotel so we could enjoy our time exploring luggage-free.
Heading back to check-in, the process was quick and easy. We were offered a welcome drink, guests can opt for anything from water to a beer or prosecco, one of the many little touches which make the Andaz stand out from the crowd.
We stayed in a king bed deluxe room. It was extremely spacious, which we loved. It had plenty of storage space, a desk, feature chair, sofa and a very comfy king size bed.
The room had all the amenities you would expect from a five-star hotel, luxury robes and slippers, amenity kit, Nespresso machine, selection of tea bags and, of course, the Andaz complimentary mini-bar which had crisps, biscuits, water, Coca-Cola (diet and regular), apple juice and orange juice.
I loved the white tiled bathroom with black accents, which had a bath and separate walk-in shower. Full sized toiletries were by luxury brand T London.
If you are at or close to the hotel during 6pm and 7pm, be sure to pop to reception to enjoy the hotel’s complimentary drinks hour. There was a selection of drinks, with some soft drinks on offer, as well as white wine, red wine, prosecco and a choice of two beers.
We enjoyed a lovely gold glass of fizz whilst listening to the resident DJ who was also in the reception area entertaining guests.
For dinner, the hotel offers a choice of four restaurants. We adore Japanese food so we enjoyed dinner in the popular Miyako. We were given some wonderful recommendations by the restaurant manager and enjoyed five dishes to share and it was the perfect amount.
Our dishes were Tender broccoli & Sesame dressing, the Prawn Gyoza which were lovely and crisp packed with sweet prawn filling. Sanshyoku Rolls which were wonderful and spicy, fresh and delicious Sashimi and lastly a mixed platter of Nigiri Sushi.
For breakfast guests have the choice of the hotel’s buffet restaurant or à la carte. We opted for the à la carte which is hosted in the hotel’s trendy Rakes bar, which was a beautiful venue to enjoy breakfast.
We both ordered a Chai latte whilst we perused the menu, which we enjoyed so much we ordered a second round later during breakfast.
After changing my mind on what to order several times (as there were so many tempting offerings), I ordered the Shakshuka and what a good choice I made, it was 10 out of 10 delicious! The poached eggs were perfect, the tomato and pepper sauce was full of flavour, the salty feta went so well and it was accompanied by grilled sourdough.
Mr B ordered the Avocado on Toast, lovely fresh crushed avocado on sourdough served with a lovely homemade tomato and chilli salsa. Mr B added two poached eggs and smoked bacon to his order and, just as I did, declared his breakfast extremely tasty.
I have to say breakfast was a big highlight for us. There was a great variety on the menu, the food was absolutely delicious, the coffee was great and the service very good!
Another plus point of the Andaz was that check-out isn’t until 12pm and, of course, after check-out staff will be happy to store your luggage.
We had a fantastic stay at the Andaz. It’s a perfect base for exploring Spitalfields, but additionally it offers so much for guests you could quite easily spend the weekend and not leave the hotel!
