Who doesn’t adore a spa day? Whether it be with my Mum, Mr B or my girlfriends, if anyone asks, I’m there!
So when I was invited to check out The Retreat at Castle Donington, I jumped at the chance to check out the facilities on offer and, of course, enjoy a cheeky glass of bubbles!
Conveniently situated on the high street in a Georgian building, it draws you in and when you are inside the first thing you will be wowed by are the stunning interiors. Someone with a very talented eye was most certainly put in charge of the decorating as every room is full of beautiful colours, even the treatment areas.
The seating area just off reception is the perfect place to relax before your treatment and maybe even enjoy a glass of fizz. The wallpaper is also stunning!
The area for the prosecco nail bar is decorated in rich royal blues and the hair styling stations in complementary greens.
Whilst there I enjoyed a relaxing hand and arm massage, as did my bestie who I took with me to enjoy the evening (and be my unofficial photographer!). As we sat back enjoying a glass of unicorn prosecco, chatting away and having a blissful massage, we were very happy indeed! We got talking to lots of the staff throughout the evening and I can honestly say they were all very friendly and welcoming, something which is very important when you are being pampered!
Upstairs you will find private treatment rooms and the social space. This has been designed in mind for groups and would be perfect for a birthday, hen party, baby shower or any excuse for a group get-together! As a group you can have your own private dining area, treatment room and chill-out room.
Back downstairs you will find the lovely Blossom Café. Here you can sit back relax and enjoy a cocktail, coffee or a glass of bubbles. Feeling peckish? The lovely cake counter is full of yummy treats, but have a peruse of the menu and you will be sure to find something to tickle your fancy. Eggs Benedict for breakfast? A pizza for lunch? A loaded waffle to satisfy your sweet tooth? Or a fabulous afternoon tea, you can even upgrade to bottomless bubbles for an extra £10 per person!
If you fancy just having your nails done or are in need of a blow dry you can book in for a single treatment, but for a true pamper they also have lots of packages on offer. From an adorable Mummy & Me package which includes treatments for you and your little one followed by goodies in the Blossom café to an Evening Moonlight Retreat including two treatments and a sharing board, to the opulent Ultimate Retreat Package with four treatments and afternoon tea.
A hidden gem located in the courtyard at the back of the spa is a large hot tub. Adorned with beautiful flower blossom, the hot tub is by booking only so no need to worry about it getting too crowded. The outside space has plenty of seating for you to sit and relax and an outside bar.
It was lovely to be able to visit the retreat and have a look around and see the wonderful facilities and pretty décor. Now it’s time to get my diary out and book in a spa day!

I was a guest at this event but as always all opinions are my own and honest.
I’m looking forward to going there one day!
Couldn’t agree more with you on this… a fabulous place, loved the quirky decor, definitely a place i will be going back to enjoy one of the many pamper packages on offer and maybe a cheeky cocktail or two. Such a pleasure to visit it with you (and be your photographer lol) thank you xx
