Radisson Blu – Berlin

As always when booking a city break the priority for us is location. The Radisson Blu in Berlin is in the city centre between Alexanderplatz and Museum Island. We found it so easy to navigate our way around the city from here simply by walking, jumping on and off the public transport or by grabbing a taxi.

The hotel is quite large with 427 rooms and we stayed in one of the premium rooms with a cathedral view and balcony.

The bathroom was adequate with a full-size bath and shower, and was kept topped up with the hotel’s own-brand toiletries.

The bed was very soft and comfy!

Also in our room was a desk and chair, a small seating area and a Nespresso machine. The room felt a lot more spacious than the usual hotel chain rooms which was nice to relax in after our busy days exploring the city.

Without doubt the star of our room was the balcony, complete with table and chairs.

The stunning view was looking directly onto the Berlin cathedral and Spree river.

It really was beautiful and I could imagine how lovely it would be in summer to sit out on the balcony enjoying a glass of wine and taking it all in.

One thing I was very impressed with in the hotel was the breakfast. Not being a fan of buffet breakfasts I wasn’t expecting much, but the selection on offer and quality of food really did impress me. There was a fantastic range of cheese, cold meats and fish, beautiful fresh breads and yoghurts with a selection of toppings. There were all the usual hot options too, including an egg station which made delicious omelettes!

There was a great selection of juices and homemade smoothies, hot drinks which were served at your table and I was delighted when on our first morning I spotted the chilled bottles of fizz! Mr B and I both enjoyed a nice glass of bubbles every morning with our breakfast . . . well we were on holiday!

We did have time to use the hotel spa which was very welcomed after our city bike tour. Considering the number of rooms I found the spa to be quite small, but saying that we managed to get a lounger and it never got busy or full. It’s probably a facility that many guests pass by.

We spoke to reception and the concierge a few times about directions and they were all very helpful. When you first walk into the hotel you can’t help but notice the ‘AquaDome’, which is the world’s largest freestanding cylindrical aquarium. The hotel lifts are glass and face into the hotel reception so you can see the fish as you are travelling up to your floor.

Ooo the view of this hotel is definitely amazing. Shame about the spa but like you said many probably don’t use it especially if they are there for a quick city break. Also what a nice comfy bed!

Loved reading about your visit. We stayed in the city about 4 years ago and had a fabulous time. I love the fact they have C&A I just have to visit the store when I see one. So miss not having them here in the UK

Oh I remember seeing the hotel when I was in Berlin and thinking brilliant location, so close to the Museum complex. To be honest, I think the spa wouldn’t bother me if I’m zipping aroun fon eof my favourite cities in Europe!

Sounds like a great location for a hotel, and I definitely could do with that view whilst sipping a glass of wine. That aquarium is pretty amazing too.
