Looking out over the stunning skyline of Ho Chi Minh City from our room on the 29th floor of the Pullman Saigon Centre was a moment that took our breath away, one of those moments in life which makes you so grateful for what you are experiencing.
Arriving for check-in late in the afternoon after a delayed flight, we only had 15 minutes before we were getting picked up for a food tour. For the welcoming and friendly staff at the Pullman that wasn’t a problem. Our suitcases were taken and delivered to our room whilst we were seated and we were given a refreshing glass of iced tea whilst staff whisked through the check-in process for us.
Our home for two nights was a stunning Pullman signature suite. Our incredible room was extremely spacious, the open plan living area had a sofa, 40-inch LED TV, desk and mini bar with tea and coffee making facilities, including espresso maker.
The king size bed was a dream to sleep in. Each evening turndown service came and closed the curtains, prepared the bed and left a chocolate on our pillow so when we arrived back in the evening, we literally just had to roll into bed and drift off into a wonderful night’s sleep.
The bathroom had his and hers sinks and a large walk-in rainforest shower, but the star of the bathroom was without a doubt the oversized bathtub which gave us the most stunning views over the skyline.
The view was the highlight of the room for us, the photos and the descriptions simply don’t do it justice. Every time we walked into our room we stopped and looked to take in the views, from watching the sunrise and seeing the city wake up to seeing it during the day or lit up so beautifully in the evening.
All guests have access to the hotel pool and fitness centre. We managed to enjoy a few relaxing hours by the pool which was just what we needed after a morning city tour.
Breakfast can be taken in the hotel’s main restaurant on the third floor, Food Connexion, however, when staying in a suite, you get access to the hotel’s executive lounge located on the 30th floor, where suite guests can enjoy breakfast, afternoon tea, light dinner and cocktail hour from 6pm to 8pm. We enjoyed some expertly made cocktails and couldn’t resist enjoying some of the oysters from the small, but quality, buffet.
We chose to enjoy breakfast in the executive lounge. It was peaceful, relaxing, the service was wonderful, the coffee great (Vietnamese iced coffee for me) and we got to enjoy our breakfast with stunning views.
The hotel is home to a highly rated restaurant called The Mad Cow Wine & Grill. We chose to enjoy our last night in the city enjoying the offerings of the restaurant and we had an excellent meal.
We enjoyed expertly made cocktails and started our meal off with burrata and an incredible steak tartare which was prepared tableside – it was absolutely delicious.
For our mains I enjoyed a Japanese wagyu steak whilst Mr B tucked into the Australian ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly and I thoroughly enjoyed my side of creamy mashed potatoes and truffle sauce. Mr B and I both commented on what a fantastic steak we had both enjoyed. To complement our meals we sipped on a fantastic glass of Argentinian Malbec.
Feeling rather full we opted to share a dessert and ordered the baked Alaska which was blowtorched tableside. Buttery pastry, sweet meringue and creamy ice cream, it was a great way to end our meal.
But the night had not ended. The hotel is home to a rooftop bar and I implore everyone to enjoy a drink there. It really felt like we were on top of the world, sipping on a passionfruit martini, taking in the views and the twinkling night sky. It was a perfect way to end our last night of our two-week adventure holiday.
We found the staff at reception extremely helpful and friendly, always there to help with directions, offer recommendations, get you a taxi or simply with a friendly hello.
The Pullman is an excellent hotel to explore this vibrant city. After being surrounded by the hustle and bustle it was like walking into an oasis of calm and relaxation.
The Pullman made our last two nights in Vietnam very special indeed.
