When I think of a relaxing luxurious break, golf doesn’t come into my thoughts, however, it was a part of our recent trip away to Kilnwick Percy Resort.
Nestled in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, Kilnwick Percy Resort is not only home to an award-winning golf course, but also to a number of luxury lodges.
Checking into our lodge for our three-night weekend stay, we were all really looking forward to a weekend of R&R. I say all of us as on this trip away we had booked a dog-friendly lodge so Snoopy could come along with us!
They have a range of different cabins you can stay in. We were in one of the Millington Deluxe Lodges and it really did feel like a home away from home.
The lovely open plan living and dining room was beautiful and spacious with a large L-shaped sofa, perfect for relaxing on while enjoying your morning cup of coffee or evening glass of wine.
The flat-screen TV had a DVD player, or do as we did and stream Netflix so you can watch a good film.
The full length windows let in lots of natural light and for when you want some privacy you simply press the switch on the electric blinds.
The kitchen has everything you could need to rustle up a nice breakfast or tasty dinner – a full size fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, crockery and a selection of glasses, and there is even a washing machine. We were supplied with a basic kitchen kit which contained a tea towel, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid and a scourer. We also had some tea and coffee waiting for us next to the kettle.
Upstairs was a spare room with twin beds and its own en-suite which had a bath.
The master bedroom had a wonderful bed which was a dream to sleep in! There was abundant wardrobe space, a dresser with chair and an en-suite with a large walk-in rainforest shower. Basic toiletries were also provided.
The best feature of the room were the full length windows which gave us wonderful views over the golf course and the woodlands, lovely views for enjoying your morning cup of tea whilst having a lie-in .
Outside on the decking there was outdoor furniture and a lovely hot tub which was perfect for warming up and relaxing after a muddy walk.
Mr B enjoyed a round of golf on the 18-hole, par-70 course which stretches over 120 acres. I know nothing about golf, but he said it was a very enjoyable course!
There is also a gym and a spa on-site, however, the most energetic thing I did the entire weekend was go for a walk around the nature trail which is perfect for walkers. Walking boots definitely recommended as it was a little muddy.
On our first night we ordered a restaurant meal box to enjoy in our cabin. Sunday night we had got lots of yummy cheese with accompaniments so on the Saturday we decided it would be nice to go out for dinner and went to the onsite restaurant, The Glasshouse.
We booked a table in the dog-friendly bar area. There is definitely something for everyone on the menu, from toasted ciabattas to steak and kidney pudding to a southern fried chicken burger.
I opted for the meat feast pizza which was loaded with toppings and also a side of sweet potato fries whilst Mr B went for the ‘Pan roast Cumberland sausage with colcannon mash, sauteed greens and caramelised onion gravy’. They also asked if Snoopy wanted a sausage, which of course he agreed to and absolutely devoured! I was also pretty impressed with the wine list. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of Malbec.
For dessert we both couldn’t resist the sticky toffee pudding, it was lip smackingly good! They serve Costa coffee so we both also enjoyed a latte.
We had a wonderful stay in our luxurious cabin in this lovely part of Yorkshire. For a couples break, family getaway or a chance to get away with friends, I highly recommend a stay in a cabin at Kilnwick Percy.
What a great trip it was!
