Bars On Silver Ray

One thing is for sure, when you are on Silversea you will very rarely not have a drink in your hand!

Of course, this could be a thirst-quenching iced water or well-made cappuccino, but let’s be honest, in my case it was generally a glass of champagne or a cocktail.

I liked that each bar had its own cocktail menu. This was a great way for Mr B and I to try some cocktails which we had not had before and as two big cocktail-lovers it’s not an easy feat to present us with a menu of new cocktails. But of course, you could order anything you desired, we varied from ordering from the menu to ordering off-menu.

 The Pool Bar

When not off-shore exploring, during the day Mr B and I could be found soaking up some sunshine on the pool deck. This, of course, meant that we were looked after by the wonderful deck crew. The pool bar always had music playing, which we enjoyed as it wasn’t ever too loud or intrusive. If we fancied some shade we sometimes sat at the bar or on the many comfy seats dotted around the deck.

But most often we were on a sunbed with my daytime drink of choice, a Kir Royale. After 11 nights Mr B and I had enjoyed an uncountable amount of Kir Royales by the pool!

Of course, now and again we mixed it up and enjoyed a daytime cocktail, Pina Colada anyone?

 S.A.L.T. Bar

Ok, I feel like saying this is like someone saying they have a favourite child, but for cocktails, S.A.L.T. Bar was our absolute favourite bar on Silver Ray! The creativity and use of local ingredients had us heading back most nights to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail or two.

Now of course, you can order off the menu, and I highly recommend the signature cocktail, the Cosmic Ray. This sour style cocktail was so nice I had it on more than one occasion.

Mr B also enjoyed the Baka’s Garden and declared the ‘Nut Old Fashioned’ the best cocktail he has ever had!

However, what I also enjoyed was letting the incredible team of mixologists make a cocktail for me. Simply let them know what you fancy, something citrusy perhaps, something vodka based? Just let them know your preferences and they will make you something unique.

The Dusk Bar

Located at the back of the ship and open in the day and the evening, The Dusk Bar gives wonderful views. We especially enjoyed it there when sailing in the evening.

In the evening you will be entertained by the resident saxophonist. Sitting and listening to his soulful sounds, the sound of the ocean and sipping on a tasting trio of margaritas was a lovely way to relax after dinner.

Arts Café

Tea and coffee lovers will be delighted with the offerings at the Arts Café. They have a menu with a wide variety of teas, including iced tea. All tea on Silver Ray is by luxury tea brand TWG Tea.

When I am on holiday I very rarely drink hot drinks, instead opting for my favourite iced latte with a shot of vanilla. Often if we were popping to reception or walking past Arts Café we were drawn in by the lovely smell of coffee so opted for a quick coffee stop.

Dolce Vita

Our usual after-dinner hangout was Dolce Vita. This was for two reasons.

One, the incredible and unbelievably talented Alfredo who every night would stun his audience with his piano playing and amazing voice. I lost count of the amount of times he would sing a song and I would get goose bumps. His vocal range was out of this world!

When in Dolce Vita we would get looked after by the wonderful servers and bar crew who were there to look after us and keep us well hydrated! Something off the cocktail menu, whatever we fancied or they would surprise me when I was unsure of what to have.

Espresso martini, spicy margarita, lemon drop, a grasshopper, I don’t think there was a cocktail these guys didn’t know how to mix! Additionally, we spent a few nights sat at the bar and they are also another wonderful team on Silversea who are not only great at their jobs, but also clearly love what they do and are great people to chat to.

 The Shelter

We only ventured to The Shelter one evening which was on the formal optional night. We thought a visit to the  ship’s champagne bar was apt on this night.

We enjoyed some lovely champagne cocktails whilst listening to the very talented violinist who played there every night.

Panorama Lounge

In the day you can relax in the Panorama Lounge and enjoy a coffee or a cocktail. During the day the bingo and trivia is hosted in the lounge. I’m not sure the cocktails made Mr B and I better or worse at bingo, but they certainly tasted great!

In the evening the resident DJ played a variety of tunes to welcome guests to the dance floor.

Room service

A few times we naturally woke up before our alarm so after a quick call to room service we were sitting on our balcony, and in my case enjoying a vanilla iced latte and for Mr B, a hot latte.

Of course, you can keep your fridge stocked up with beverages of your choice, but if you did fancy something to drink which was not in your mini-bar a quick call to your butler and you would be sipping on your beverage of choice in the comfort of your room shortly after.

 Champagne

Mr B and I were most definitely not the only people enjoying the free-flowing champagne on Silver Ray. Silversea had recently changed their champagne and now serve Duval-Leroy.

We were more than happy with this serve. We found it lovely, crisp and refreshing, and were more than happy to enjoy many a glass during our voyage!

To Silversea guests past and present, cheers!

Hi, Shiraj! We were on the Nova in December and enjoyed your wonderful cocktails (including several varieties of Pisco Sours). We’re going to board the Ray at the end of October. Will you still be on then? Hoping to see you again at the S.A.L.T bar!
