There is just something about The Four Seasons, it is a brand for Mr B and I which always delivers wonderful service, classic luxury, beautiful hotels and high-quality food and drinks.
On our most recent city break to Prague we paid a visit to The Four Seasons Hotel to enjoy drinks and bar snacks at their CottoCrudo bar.
Being welcomed into the hotel and our jackets kindly taken, we were given a choice of tables. We opted for a cosy booth located in the bar.
Starting off with a glass of champagne, as any visit to the Four Seasons should in my opinion, we sipped on the crisp cold bubbles as we perused the bar menu.
What we really liked was that the majority of their cocktails use traditional Czech ingredients with many twists on the classic cocktails you would normally expect to find on a cocktail menu.
We have always found all the staff so friendly and welcoming, and being looked after by mixologist Patrick, we were happy to take his suggestions on which cocktails he thought we would enjoy.
The first one I ordered was the ‘Paradiso’, made with Mezcal, citrus, basil, tomato water and agave. This was described as a caprese in a glass. It was so wonderfully fresh and the flavours were all quite delicate. It was a great cocktail to start with.
Mr B’s first cocktail of choice was a ‘Cherry old fashioned’. As a drinker of the classic old fashioned this was a great choice for him with the addition of cherry and use of a local Czech whisky.
Before ordering our next round we decided to partake in some bar snacks. We chose the ‘Praha hot dog’ which is made with local pork sausage, house-made Sauerkraut and beer mustard. There are two per serving so perfect to share. They were really tasty and the buns they were in were light and slightly sweet which went well with the tangy toppings.
Never have Mr B and I seen truffle fries on a menu and been able to resist ordering them! These were perfection, drizzled with just the right amount of truffle oil and tossed in parmesan and Italian parsley, so very moreish.
To round off our selection of bar snacks we chose the cheese selection. There was a generous amount of cheese and a wonderful selection which we were happy to be selected for us. With homemade crackers and dollops of delicious chutneys and honey, it was everything you could want from a cheese board.
As our food arrived Patrick had some suggestions for our next round of cocktails. A ‘Negroni Sgroppino’ for me. Mr B is the usual negroni drinker from the two of us, however, this was no standard negroni, but simply a nod to the classic. This fun cocktail was made with CottoCrudo Red Vermouth and Prosecco, and it contained a scoop of homemade Campari sorbet and homemade edible Campari glass. I loved how much fun this cocktail was. As well as that it tasted fabulous and it felt like having a dessert in drink form.
Mr B ordered the ‘Poppy Seed Tini’, made with rum 7-year, Czech Poppy seed liqueur, coffee and a hint of salt. It was a fabulous twist on the classic Espresso Martini, the poppy seeds added a great nuttiness.
We both loved the relaxed atmosphere at CottoCrudo and the staff are happy for you to relax and take your time. We were so happy in our perfectly situated booth we ordered another round of cocktails to savour.
This time I had the ‘Mamma Mia Punch’ which was made with blood orange gin, peach, hibiscus cordial, spices and finished with bubbles. It was a lovely, refreshing and slightly floral drink.
Mr B opted for the ‘Oh Mygharita’, as who doesn’t love a Margarita? This spicy margarita was a combination of a local Habanero gin, tequila blanco, orange liqueur, lime and agave.
Deciding we had time to enjoy one last drink, it was suggested I end on the ‘Sex and The City’. This creation contained vodka, fig, lime, coconut water, absinthe, bitters. It was very smooth and quite easy drinking, a perfect summer cocktail.
Mr B finished with the ‘U R Delicious and Sour’, made with apple brandy, pineapple, citrus, egg white. The balance of the sweet and sour was just right.
Before we knew it we had spent four hours in this wonderful bar, sipping away, relaxing and being looked after by the wonderful staff.
For a hotel stay, dinner or fabulous cocktails, no matter what country we are in, the Four Seasons never lets us down and leaves us feeling spoiled.
