Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica: 5 Star All Inclusive Resort
When Mr B and I were looking for a last minute holiday to get some winter sun we knew we wanted to go to the Caribbean. We love the crystal clear waters, the white sands, the sunshine, the friendly people and of course the rum!
When Jamaica popped up on our search it didn’t take us long to book it. Never having been before this holiday had us staying at the five-star Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica which looked perfect for our week of rest and relaxation.
Arriving at the grand hotel entrance with the marble reception glistening, our cases were taken from us and we were offered a rum punch and comfy seat while we checked in.
Our sea view suite had a fabulous king size four-poster bed, sofa, table and chairs, tea tray, coffee maker, mini bar (which was restocked every day) and bathrobes and slippers. The bathroom had a hydromassage bathtub, separate shower and generous array of the hotel’s own toiletries.
The star of our room was the balcony with its fantastic views over the lovely grounds and the sea. We even woke up early one morning just to watch the sun rise and often enjoyed a morning coffee there or an evening drink.
The hotel has a choice of pools and different sections of private beach and we alternated our time between the two.
Top tip – if you are visiting this resort head for the beach at the end. It feels private and secluded but has a fantastic bar were you can keep hydrated (our choice was usually the rum punch or the Bob Marley cocktail!).
On our early morning walks to or from breakfast the staff were always hard at work raking the beautiful white sand. There were always plenty of sunbeds and shade if required and the water was warm, calm and crystal-clear. We spent quite a few days on this beach which was like a little piece of paradise.
There were three pools to choose from, two of which had swim-up bars … who doesn’t love a swim up bar? The bartenders there were great and made fantastic cocktails. Quite often I asked them to make me any cocktail with rum and I was never disappointed as each member of staff seemed to have their own speciality!
The pool was the place to go if you wanted some background music and fun. There were so many activities you could enjoy from early morning walks to water volleyball and quizzes. If you like to fill your day with activities you won’t be board at the Grand Bahia.
After spending all day relaxing by the beach and pool we enjoyed a drink at the lobby bar. Sitting outside enjoying glass of champagne or a cocktail was the perfect way to end the day and welcome in the evening before going back to our room to freshen up and get ready for dinner.
We also enjoyed the lobby bar In the evening too, but if you are looking for entertainment there’s always a different show to watch in the entertainment complex. This was quite a distance from the lobby bar but not to worry, there were always golf carts waiting at the entrance happy to take you wherever you wanted to go.
