Bustler Market Nottingham

Being Nottingham born and bred should I be ashamed to say I have never been to Sneinton? Well this suburb which is a hop, skip and a jump into the city centre is now well and truly on my list thanks to its recent opening of Bustler market.

They already have a successful site in Derby which I have followed on socials for some time, so when I was invited to the opening night of the Nottingham venue I immediately said yes.

Located in Sneinton Market Avenue C and open Thursday to Sunday, expect to find a relaxed atmosphere, plenty of seating, a live DJ, bar and a range of street food vendors in the courtyard.

A big plus for us is that they are also dog friendly so of course we took our recently adopted greyhound JoJo along with us, who got lots of fuss and attention and a fair few gravy bones!

The bar has a good selection of craft beers, wines, cocktails and spirits including a good selection of gins.

We enjoyed a raspberry gin fizz cocktail and glass of pinot. Cocktails are made fresh (no horrible pre-mixers here), and I later enjoyed an espresso martini which was very well made.

The venue itself has splashes of street art, great Festoon lighting, a disco ball and tea lights on each table all which make the atmosphere feel fun and relaxed.

During our visit there was a live DJ – it was great to sit back, relax, eat delicious food, sip on a refreshing drink and listen to some good music.

The big draw for us was the range of street food vendors. On our visit there was Prad Thai serving a selection of Thai dishes, El Capo’s with stone-baked pizzas, Kebab Cartel dishing up shawarma, Yard Birds Chicken cooking epic fried chicken options and last, but not least, the Bournville waffle company making fresh waffles with a range of toppings.

I loved the variety on offer and I think it makes it the perfect place for groups as there was such a great range of food options, definitely something for everyone.

We ordered he ‘Dirty Clucker burger’ from Yard Birds Chicken along with the beef Massaman curry from Prad Thai.

The ‘Dirty Clucker’ was a buttermilk fried chicken thigh in a brioche bun with smoked streaky bacon, dirty cheese sauce, pickles, iceberg lettuce and house mayo served with a portion of seasoned skin-on fries. The chicken was moist on the inside and lovely and crisp on the outside, and the balance of the salty bacon, sharp pickles and cheese sauce was just delicious!

The Massaman curry, well, there are not enough adjectives to describe how tasty this was. Every mouthful was an explosion of flavour – it was so aromatic and balanced perfectly, the beef was incredibly tender and the first taste instantly bought back memories of our travels of Thailand. This was equally as good as the food we enjoyed out there, it was just incredible! For me it was a perfect representation of what street food is all about.

Personally, I think Bustler market is a great addition to Nottingham. There isn’t anywhere else like it in the city and it ticked all the boxes for me – venue, food and drink. Bustler market, we will see you soon!

I was invited as a guest to attend the opening VIP night but as always, all my opinions are my own and honest.
